300 Days of Sunshine: What It’s Really Like to Live in Northern Cyprus All Year Round
If you ask anyone here, “What do you love most about Northern Cyprus?”
Almost everyone will give you the same answer — the weather and the sea!
And honestly, I’m no exception. I’ve always hated snow and cold weather. So, imagine my happiness when I realized I could live in a place with more than 300 sunny days a year!
A little story from my first winter here: all my friends and relatives kept sending me photos of the first snow with excited captions — “Look! It’s snowing!”
And my usual reply? “Please, don’t tell me about it and don’t send me pictures!”
Because for me, this island’s winter was pure magic. No more winter. Ever!
And it’s not just emotional — it’s practical, too.
You don’t need heavy winter coats, boots, or scarves. Your wardrobe becomes lighter, life becomes easier, and honestly, it’s much more economical.
But the real magic hit me later. I started smiling more — maybe it’s the vitamin D, maybe it’s that incredible feeling of actually living where others only come for holidays.
Let’s look at some quick, simple facts 👇
Winter in Northern Cyprus:
- Average temperature: +17–19°C — you’ll see people wearing a polo and a light jacket at the same time.
- Average sea temperature: +15–16°C — yes, people really do swim all year round!
- Rainy days: around 15–18 per winter, sometimes even fewer. (Last year, it only rained a few times!)
☀️ Summer in Northern Cyprus:

The tourist season here lasts about 8 months per year — something to keep in mind if you’re thinking about property investment and calculating your ROI.
So when someone asks me,
“What’s it like to live in a place with 300 days of sunshine?”My answer is simple:
☀️ It’s like living in a fairy tale.
